King's army ready for Cup assault
LEADING horseman Ryan Hryhorec will launch a four-pronged attack on the latest country feature as he seeks to continue his reign as South Australia's King of the Trotters' Cups.
Hryhorec has dominated the provincial events like no other in recent years, including becoming the first trainer in the nation to complete a clean sweep of a state's squaregaiting Cups in 2022.
A regular on the dais in 2023, Hryhorec then won four Cups in 2024, including the Fred Jones Cup, which he captured again a fortnight ago.
Triumphant with Regal Attire last year, Hryhorec scored with Tweedledee, which is undefeated from three starts this campaign.
Set to clash for the first time, Regal Attire and Tweedledee will spearhead Hryhorec's attack on Sunday's Kadina Trotters' Cup in Port Pirie.
Regal Attire will begin from the 20-metre line, with Tweedledee the sole runner on the 30-metre backmark.
The duo will be joined by their stablemates Aldebaran Dexta and Phoebe Onyx in the 2530-metre stand.
"I can't fault any of them," Hryhorec said. "Dexta and Phoebe have been working a treat and are going better than their form reads.
"They just haven't had much luck, but get their chance from the front row.
"Regal Attire is first-up from a break, and will benefit from this outing, but his work has been fantastic and is going as good as I can have him heading into this.
"Tweedledee hasn't set a hoof wrong this time in, and although the 30 metres is never easy, the way he rounded them up last time suggests he can do it again."
