Looking to re-establish recent domination
LOOKING to re-establish his recent domination of Victorian open class features, Jason Grimson will launch another three-pronged attack on a provincial Cup this weekend.
Since crossing the Murray from his New South Wales base in November, Grimson has captured the Inter Dominion, Group One Cranbourne and Group Two Bendigo Cups.
Grimson's Cup wins came via Major Meister, which led home a stable quinella in Bendigo as Sicario finished second in his debut for the horseman.
As for the industry's 'Holy Grail', Grimson's success was with I Cast No Shadow, which will join Major Meister in Saturday night's $150,000 Ballarat Cup.
I Cast No Shadow was runner-up, beaten a half-neck, in last week's Shepparton Cup.
Along with I Cast No Shadow and Major Meister, Grimson will be represented by dual Group One winner, Majestic Cruiser.
"Each of them has been working well and will be right in the finish with the right run," Grimson said.
I Cast No Shadow will begin from barrier six, with his stablemates drawn alongside each other on the second row.
Major Meister came from a similar draw during his Bendigo victory.
"The draws aren't ideal, but it is what it is," Grimson said. "They will all need a bit of luck from their difficult draws, but they're not out of it either.
"Looking at the entire field, it seems like a case of who gets the better run will win.
"You could run the race 10 times and probably get 10 different winners."
