Luciano will need to be lucky
EARNING a Chariots Of Fire berth by causing an upset in last weekend's qualifier, Our Luciano will need to be more than lucky if he is going to repeat the dose in the Group One.
Our Luciano sealed his position in Australia's premier four-year-old feature by securing the Paleface Adios Stake as a $14 shot for trainer James Rattray.
With Rattray in the cart, the son of Sweet Lou produced a scintillating sprint to grab the lead in the last stride, scoring by a head in 1:49.8 to remain unbeaten from two starts for the Inter Dominion winning horseman.
"He hasn't set a foot wrong since he got here," Rattray said. "He is thriving on the style of racing at Menangle as he enjoys the solid pace.
"Last week's run was terrific and he has felt enormous since."
Set to return to Club Menangle for tonight's main event, Our Luciano is again amongst the outsiders at $26 with TAB Fixed Odds.
Along with facing his toughest assembly of rivals, Our Luciano has draw the outside of the front row - barrier 10.
"He is up against it that's for sure," Rattray said. "It's a super field and he's drawn terribly.
"I'm tipping the speed will be on from the start, which he should enjoy and could play into the hands of something to come home hard.
"With some luck, that could be him."
