Milestone for premier trainer

EQUALLING a personal best and notching a milestone last night, premier horseman Ryan Hryhorec is also closing in on two more highlights.

Hryhorec dominated the Globe Derby meeting by training five winners on the nine-race card.

It is the second time Hryhorec has registered a quintet as a trainer, with the first coming via the Strathalbyn meeting at Globe Derby last April, with his wins including the Pacing and Trotting Cups.

Hryhorec drove four of his five winners, with the last of the crew - Ebonys Avenger - his 2600th victory as a reinsman.

"It was hard work having such a large team in, including five in the last race, but it was a good night," Hryhorec said. "To get five winners is a terrific result and to get to 2600 is pretty satisfying too."

Edging closer to 1100 wins as a trainer - with his tally sitting on 1094 - Hryhorec is also on target for his best season.

Hryhorec's team won 101 races in 2023, with the crew successful on 89 occasions in 2025 with four months remaining.

"Getting to 1100 would be good, but I'd really like to pass my tally from a couple of years ago," Hryhorec said. "There is still plenty of time, so hopefully I can get the job done."

For the record, Hryhorec's latest winners were Lochinvar Magic, Trailblazer, John Vincent, Cadence Lane and Ebonys Avenger.

Dani Hill partnered Lochinvar Magic.
