Miracle Mile winner close to milestone win
FORMER boom pacer Christen Me is closing in a milestone.
Completing his third win of the year at Yonkers Raceway yesterday, Christen Me notched his 49th overall victory.
The 12-year-old covered the mile in 1:52.1, and although well short of his personal best of 1:49.1, the win was enough to suggest Christen Me can reach a half century.
Since being sold to American interests in 2017 Christen Me has notched 17 northern hemisphere wins.
During his time with New Zealand trainer Cran Dalgety the son of Christian Cullen became Australasia’s most feared pacer, with his 32 victories including 10 Group Ones.
Chisten Me also won four Group Two and six Group Threes for a bankroll of $2,472,138.
The gelding’s biggest success came in the 2014 Miracle Mile at Club Menangle, where he registered his fastest time.
Voted New Zealand Horse of the Year, Christen Me also captured the A G Hunter Cup, Chariots Of Fire, Victoria Cup, Taylor Mile, Messenger, New Zealand Free-For-All and Auckland Cup.
