IN-FORM pacer Major Meister will be given the opportunity to complete a Country Cup hat-trick in coming weeks.

Winner of the Cranbourne Cup on December 17, Major Meister secured his second provincial feature in Bendigo just moments ago.

Planning to continue racing the son of Art Major on the cup circuit, New South Wales trainer Jason Grimson is yet to decide if Major Meister will compete in next week's Shepparton Cup or wait until Ballarat's flagship event in a fortnight.

Major Meister made his debut for Grimson in Ballarat early last month when he rated 1:52.9 over 1710 metres.

"He'll stay in Victoria for the Cups, but I haven't decided if that means Shepparton next week or Ballarat the week after," Grimson said.

"There is also the Hunter Cup in a few weeks, so I don't want to push him too hard between now and then."

Driven by Cameron Hart, Major Meister was settled towards the tail of the field from his second row draw as A Gs White Socks led and Rock N Roll Doo worked on his outside.

Send forward along the back straight, Major Meister was checked as a result of Rock N Roll Doo being pulled out of the race.

Regaining momentum around the final turn, the gelding sprinted to a two-metre win from his stablemate, Sicario.

Max Delight was a head away third in 1:56.1 over 2650 metres.

"We copped some interference down the back, but luckily he kept his balance and was able to keep going," Hart said.

"He showed his versatility tonight as he won his last two starts when leading and tonight he came off the speed and sprinted well."
