MISS OHANA

FRESH from a successful trip across the border, Courtney Laker is already planning another Club Menangle raid.

Laker made the journey north for last Saturday night's Trotters' Foundation Final, which she captured with talented filly Miss Ohana.

Pleased with the three-year-old's performance, Laker has her sights on the New South Wales Breeders' Challenge later in the season.

"We bought her out of the Sydney Sale, and given she is New South Wales-bred, we will be back for the Breeders' Challenge," Laker said.

"There are also other options for her closer to home such as the Victoria Trotters' Oaks, but the Breeders' Challenge is part of her schedule."

Driven by Will Rixon, Miss Ohana was sent forward from barrier seven to find the lead as early front runner, San Juan Mountain, was eased to take a trail.

Staving off a determined Lotus Louise along the home straight, Miss Ohana held on to score by a half-head, with San Juan Mountain seven-and-a-half metres away third.

"I was pretty confident with her and excited for her to come home with the win," Laker said. "It got close at the finish, but she did enough to hold on, which is what matters."

Rating 1:59.6 over 2300 metres, the daughter of Art Major took her record to four wins and five placings from 12 starts for earnings of $55,476.
