New Zealand campaign still on the cards
A TRIP across the Tasman remains an option, but local riches are the initial target.
That's the call from Michael Stanley when discussing Rock N Roll Doo's campaign following his success in last night's Kilmore Cup.
Stanley had already revealed plans of tackling the New Zealand Cup with the four-year-old, with those ambition still part of the agenda.
The potential international venture was given traction when Stanley qualified Rock N Roll Doo in a standing start between his previous win and his Cup triumph.
While owner Brendan James is keen to send the son of Rock N Roll Heaven to the Shaky Isles, Stanley stated the Victoria Cup is the primary focus.
The Grand Circuit event is scheduled to be conducted at Tabcorp Park Melton on October 8.
"The Victoria Cup is only a fortnight so we will just concentrate on that for now," Stanley said. "Brendan and I have spoken a lot about New Zealand which is why we qualified him from the stand to keep our options open.
"There is still plenty to be worked out, but as I said our main aim now is getting him ready the Victoria Cup."
With Stanley in the cart during his latest victory, Rock N Roll Doo was caught wide early from barrier five before being eased forward to find the front.
Striding clear of the pack during the latter stages, the gelding completed a seven-metre win from Torrid Saint, with Honolua Bay a metre-and-a-half away third.
Rating 1:57.4 over 2690 metres, Rock N Roll Doo took his record to 11 wins and seven placings from 28 starts for earnings of $224,150.
