Perfect career start continues
CONTINUING the perfect start to her career with another win at Globe Derby promising filly Centrefold Star will be given a brief freshen-up before embarking on a feature campaign.
Making a successful debut at the same venue a fortnight ago, Centrefold Star repeated the dose earlier this week.
Pleased with the two-year-old's performances, trainer Bronte Giorgio plans to keep Centrefold Star fresh ahead of several key targets later in the season.
"I've been told the two-year-old races will ramp up in October heading into the Southern Cross, so I will freshen her up for a couple of weeks now and get ready for that," Giorgio said.
"There are a couple of other nice races around the same time, so I certainly want her nice and fresh for those.
"She won't have any time off as such, as there isn't much time to tip her out, just jog every couple of days."
Driven by Michael Smith, Centrefold Star enjoyed the perfect one-one trip from barrier four before cruising to a soft five-and-a-half metre win from Weowna Segreta.
Modsquad was a head away third in 2:01 over 1800 metres.
"She got a similar type of run as her first start and went really well," Giorgio said. "It was a stronger field this time and she still did it nicely.
"I've got a good opinion of her as the ability is obviously there and it just comes so natural for her.
"She has no special gear, runs as straight as a dye and takes it all in her stride."
