Perfect draw boosts confidence
LIBBY LOU

A PERFECT draw has connections confident with Libby Lou ahead of Saturday night's Melton meeting.

Engaged in an Australian Pacing Gold Bullion Final, Libby Lou has drawn barrier one for trainer Black Fitzpatrick.

A noted quick beginner, the daughter of Sweet Lou is expected to have no trouble occupying her favourite role as pacemaker.

"It is a perfect draw," Fitzpatrick said. "I couldn't have asked for a better draw.

"She flies the gate and is a good leader, so she will get her chance from there.

"I can't see her being crossed, and if she does lead, I will be rolling along with her."

Earning a berth in the $150,000 feature via a heat win at Club Menangle a fortnight ago, Libby Lou is a $1.60 favourite with TAB Fixed Odds, with Eureka Jo considered the main danger at $4 from barrier five.

One of three runners from the all-conquering Emma Stewart/Clayton Tonkin team, Libby Lou was also successful during the qualifying rounds.

"I don't think there's a standout in it," Fitzpatrick said. "It's a good even race with five or six pretty solid chances.

"Anything from Emma and Clayton's stable has to be respected, while all the others in it aren't without their hope with the right run.

"All I can say is Libby's got the right draw and is in terrific condition, now it's a matter of putting it together on the night."
