The Narcissist

RISING star The Narcissist maintained his perfect Victorian record with an impressive win last night.

Having his sixth start for premier trainer Emma Stewart, The Narcissist trounced his rivals in the Melton Plate.

The son of Always B Miki was sent to Stewart from Queenslasn-based horseman Riley Butt.

"He has been a great pick up for the stable," Stewart said. "He hasn't set a hoof wrong since he got here and has improved each time he has gone around.

"We really like him and think he can go a lot further."

Driven by Greg Sugars, The Narcissist was caught three-wide from barrier seven before being eased forward to find the lead as early pacemaker, Sir Jimmy, was eased to take a trail.

Never seriously challenged, the gelding cruised to a seven-and-a-half metre win from his stablemate Best Deal.

Louie Lou I was three metres away third in 1:55 over 2240 metres.

"He hadn't drawn the best, so that's always in the back of your mind, but we felt he had it covered," Stewart said. "In the end he did it easily and Greg said he had plenty in the tank over the line."
