Perfect return from injury to continue
COMEBACK mare Fiamma should have little trouble maintaining her perfect campaign during weekend.
Returning from a 17-month injury-enforced break last April, Fiamma is undefeated from five starts this season, with an average winning margin of 16 metres.
Given a freshen-up following her success in Melton on June 24, Fiamma will be in action during Saturday night's strong Ballarat card.
"She hasn't set a hoof wrong since coming back and I can't see any reason for that to change," trainer Emma Stewart said.
"We gave her a few days off after her last win and it has brightened her right up."
To be driven by Kate Gath, Fiamma has drawn awkwardly in barrier six over 1710 metres, while her stablemate, Our Little Jet, has fared better in gate three.
Our Little Jet will be first-up since running third in Bendigo on December 30.
"Fiamma's work going into Saturday night has been as good as ever," Stewart said. "It's going to take a big run to beat her.
"Our Little Jet has worked up very nicely and is ready to go.
"That said, whatever she does this week she will certainly improve on next time around."
