HANDY pacer Tiger Prince continued his steady rise through the grades with another win at Club Menangle yesterday.

Racing in consistent form for trainer Kevin Pizzuto, Tiger Prince registered his seventh victory from 38 starts.

Bred and owned by Pizzuto, the gelding also has 10 placings to his credit.

"He's a nice little pacer," Pizzuto said. "He's no superstar like his Dad, but geez, he puts in when he races.

"A touch more luck here or there and his record would read even better as he's finished second quite a few times.

"You certainly wouldn't complain if you had several horses just like him in the stable."

Driven by Ashleigh Delosa, Tiger Prince was settled in the perfect one-one trail from barrier seven as Showmethetanlines worked to the lead from gate four.

Angled to the middle of the track along the home straight, Tiger Prince reached the front in the last stride to score by a half-neck from Showmethetanlines.

Sky Blu was 16-and-a-half metres away third as the winner covered the mile in 1:52.2.

"He only just got there, but he got there," Pizzuto said. "He's had six or seven runs since his last win, and finished second in three of those, so he's earned another win."

The only foal from New Zealand mare Miss Patriot, Tiger Prince is by Pizzuto's former champion Tiger Tara.

Remaining underrated as a stallion, Tiger Tara was well-recognised for his racing feats, having reached the highest echelon by capturing harness racing's 'Holy Grail' - the Inter Dominion.

Tiger Tara was also triumphant in the Group One Canadian Club Sprint at Club Menangle, along with the A G Hunter and Victoria Cups in Melton on his way to earning $2,375,065.

Overall, Tiger Tara was retired with 37 wins and 40 placings from 112 starts.
