SPEEDY HEALEY

PROMISING youngster Speedy Healey continued his rapid rise through the grades with another stylish win last night.

Completing a hat-trick with his success in Ballarat the previous week, Speedy Healey proved too good in Melton this time around.

Rapt with the three-year-old's performances, trainer Steven Zammit admits it is becoming increasingly difficult to contain his excitement.

"He's going really well...certainly speedy at the moment," Zammit said. "I couldn't be happier with him.

"I'd never had a horse win three in a row before, now he's won his last four starts, which is amazing.

"It's hard not to think he can keep going up in grade, but the truth is it becomes more difficult each time and I don't know how long he can keep it going or how long his luck will hold up.

"Last night for example, I felt I had him spot on and only bad luck would beat him, so I'm glad luck didn't turn against him."

Driven by talented young reinsman Blake Pace, Speedy Healey rated 2:00.3 over 2240 metres to account for Littleblabbamouth and Wichita Kansas.

A third generation participant, Pace boasts five wins and a third from his last 10 drives!

"Blake really knows the horse, which is what the horse needs," Zammit said. "He's not the smartest horse, and when he hits the front, he thinks it's all over, so you've got to time your run perfectly with him, which is what Blake does."
