Ready to extend perfect Group One record
BETTING markets suggest outstanding squaregaiter Queen Elida will experience little trouble extending her perfect Group One record at Club Menangle this weekend.
Queen Elida has contested two top shelf events at the world class venue for wins in the 2022 La Coocaracha and last season's Garrard's Trotting Mares' Mile.
On Saturday the Brent Lilley-trained six-year-old will aim for a hat-trick when she defends her Trotting Mares' Mile title.
To be driven by Chris Alford, Queen Elida has drawn barrier four which has resulted in TAB Fixed Odds listing the daughter of Love You as a $1.65 favourite.
Im Ready Jet is considered the biggest threat at $5 from gate two
Queen Elida has been kept fresh since finishing third behind Just Believe and Callmethebreeze in the $600,000 TAB Trot in Cambridge on April 12
"She has come through her runs in New Zealand in super condition and is raring to go," Lilley said. "I couldn't be happier with her leading into this.
"She has drawn well enough and I am sure 'Puppet' (Alford) will be pushing forward.
"Im Ready Jet has beaten her before and is certainly capable of doing it again.
"She is the main danger and has the draw to look for the front and make things very interesting."
In other news from the Lilley stable, Kyvalley Hotspur is on target for a New Zealand campaign.
Winner of last week's Bendigo Trotters' Cup, Kyvalley Hotspur is being aimed at the ANZAC and Rowe Cups in Auckland on May 17 and 24.
