Ready to open winning account
FORMER promising youngster Titian Raider is in a strong position to open his winning account for the season tomorrow.
Set to compete in the final event on the Club Menangle card, Titian Raider has drawn the pole for 84-year-old trainer Harry Martin.
Among New South Wales' best three-year-olds with nine wins, four seconds and two thirds from 17 starts, the now seven-year-old has forged a handy career despite not reaching the heights once predicted.
Titian Raider has amassed a record of 16 wins, 10 seconds and 10 thirds from 97 outings, with his last victory coming at Club Menangle on November 2, 2024.
To be driven by concession reinswoman Sofia Arvidsson, the son of Sunshine Beach is among the leading betting prospects in the 1609-metre contest.
"He has been racing consistently without a lot of luck," Martin said. "In his last 10 starts he has run a couple of thirds and been fourth four times, so he's going well enough.
"I'm happy with his work and expect his usual honest effort tomorrow.
"He just needs things to go his way."
Elsewhere on the program, Arvidsson will partner her own stable runners Winona Writer and The Big End Oftown.
Winona Writer caught the eye last week when fifth at her first run for four months and is destined to strip fitter.
The Big End Oftown has been among the placegetters during three of his last five starts, but faces a tough task from a wide draw.
An injury-plagued son of Heston Blue Chip, The Big End Oftown is searching for his first win since scoring upon his debut for Arvidsson in February 2023.
