Reigning champ primed for title defence
THE LOCOMOTIVE

REIGNING champion The Locomotive is in pristine condition ahead of his title defence.

That's the warning to all rivals from trainer Wayne Potter as he puts the polish on the star youngster for Saturday night's Vicbred Super Series Final in Melton.

Winner of his heat in Maryborough a fortnight ago, The Locomotive has "trained on brilliantly" according to the astute horseman.

"I couldn't be happier with him," Potter said. "He showed in the heat he was back to his best and he's trained on brilliantly since then.

"I can't have him in any better shape going into this."

Reinsman Nathan Jack also gave a strong indication of The Locomotive's prospects by choosing to drive the son of Muscle Mass.

Jack also had the option of partnerting fellow heat winner, Gotfeelingsyouknow, and The Locomotive's stablemate, Avenel Eagle.

Drawn to find the lead from barrier four, The Locomotive is a $2.10 TAB Fixed Odds favourite for the $100,000 decider.

Gotfeelingsyouknow is considered the biggest threat at $3.50 from gate 12.

"He'll be looking for the front and won't be handing up this time," Potter said. "He handed up in the Nutrien Final, but the horse was first-up in that series.

"He's a lot fitter now and will be giving them something to chase.

"Nathan has a pretty big opinion of Gotfeelingsyouknow and he, along with Prince Of Rock are the pair to beat even from the back row."
