IN-FORM reinsman Jack Trainor certainly made the most of his last-minute opportunity at Club Menangle last night.

Originally set to watch the fillies' Nutrien Final from the grandstand, Trainor instead made his way to the winners' circle after the Group One.

Trainor was booked to partner Somethin Bout Eily by Victorian trainer Jess Tubbs after Blake Fitzpatrick was forced to the sidelines.

Fitzpatrick drove Somethin Bout Eily to finish third in a prelude the previous week, but had to miss the decider after a stable mishap days earlier.

"We have a wonderful relationship with Blake and Lisa Fitzpatrick and sent Somethin Bout Eily up to stay with them for the series," Tubbs said.

"Blake was supposed to drive her in the Final, but unfortunately had a mishap with one of his horses at home and couldn't drive.

"Luckily Jack was available to step in and take the reins, and as it turned out, he drove her brilliantly."

Given time to settle into her stride, Somethin Bout Eily was eased towards the tail of the field from barrier five as Lochinvar Xena led from gate four.

Taken four-deep turning for home, the daughter of Somebeachsomewhere sprinted to a metre-and-a-half win from Ludacrous.

Lochinvar Xena was three metres away third in 1:58.2 over 2300 metres.

"Blake was pleased with her run in the heat and said she worked really well during the week, so we were positive about her chances," Tubbs said.

"It was a great time for her to break her maiden!

"She will come home now and we will see how she pulls up before aiming at the Breeders' Crown and Vicbred later in the year."
