Rising star extends unbeaten streak
RISING star Whiskey Blu stretched his unbeaten streak by taking out yesterday’s Dale McConnell Memorial Trot at The Meadows.
Unraced at two, Whiskey Blu launched his career in January and has waltzed through conditions on his way to five straight wins.
The son of Southwind Frank and Kendall Blue has rolled up a combined margin of 15 lengths over those victories.
In the McConnell, regular driver Dan Charlino sent Whiskey Blu to the point at the quarter before he drew away from The Funk to score by two-and-a-half lengths in 1:56.3. Laramie rallied for show.
Ron Burke trains Whiskey Blu for Burke Racing Stable, Kitefield Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Massive Stroke took the other $10,000 opening-leg division in the series for three and four-year-old male trotters.
The event honours the memory of Dale McConnell, who earned the nickname “Mr Trot” for his success developing and campaigning trotters.
