Sad passing of passionate owner, breeder and committeeman
JUST days after the running of a key event he helped launch, passionate harness racing participant Dean York has passed away.
York lost his brave battle with cancer yesterday - only a day after 84th birthday!

With a love for standardbreds spread over six decades, York was a Tamworth Harness Racing Club committee member when the Golden Guitar was initiated.
Now a popular $50,000 event, the Golden Guitar was captured last Friday night by Queensland raider Exclusive Hustler.
Gaining his joy for horses from his father Albert, York switched codes on his 'old man' from gallopers to the trots.
Owning and breeding several handy performers throughout the years, York enjoyed success in features such as the Inter City Pace with Rockin Butler, the Cecile's Narrabri Cup with Classic Asset and a Victoria Derby heat with the Chris Robinson-trained Major Post.
York's most recent, and arguably best, pacer Star Major surpassed $400,000 in earnings with his triumph in Hobart last October.
Star Major's wins include the Metropolitan Cup and multiple victories at Australia's premier track, Club Menangle, where he scored in 1:50.2.
National Trotguide extends its most profound sympathy to York's family and many friends.
