DESPITE a mixed bag of draws, Nick Tardio remains "somewhat confident" ahead of Saturday night's Globe Derby meeting.

Tardio has three runners engaged, including two in the Kevin and Kay Seymour Final.

A handy fourth in his heat, ever-consistent veteran Boss Major has had his prospects boosted by drawing the pole, while Come On Sloopy faces a tough task from the second row.

Racing in top form with three wins, two seconds and a third from her last six starts, Come On Sloopy will begin from gate 11.

"They've drawn the opposite end of the scale, but still have a chance," Tardio said. "Boss Major's draw gives a real sneaky chance, which is what he needed.

"Sloopy's life has been made harder, but she isn't out of it either.

"Hopefully the speed will be on, which will bring her right into it.

"They are both feeling fine, ran good races in their heats and are ready to go again, so I'm somewhat confident going into the Final."

Later on the card Tardio will be represented by Buttercup, which has drawn the outside of the front line.

"She's ODM at the moment, so was always going to draw poorly," Tardio said. "If she is on her best behaviour she is capable of surprising them.

"We'll just have to wait and see how she goes."
