Stable dominates Victorian awards
PREMIER trainer Emma Stewart has dominated tonight's Victorian Horse of the Year Awards.
Three finalists were listed in the two-year-old fillies' and colts/geldings' pacing divisions, with Stewart preparing all six youngsters!
Let Her Roll claimed the tiara over her stablemates, with The Highlight Reel judged the top performer among the boys.
It was the same case in the three-year-old pacing categories, with Stewart's stable filling all six positions.
In the end, it was Very Pretty which ascended to the throne, while Bay Of Biscay was declared the 'Prince' among his crop.
Stewart then had two finalists in both the four-year-old pacing mares' and entires/geldings' award, with Major Delight the best ranked mare and Perfect Class securing the other title.
The various trotting awards were well spread, with Gatesys Gem the leading two-year-old filly for Glenn Hunter and Vytis taking home the gong for father-and-son combination Richard and Emmett Brosnan.
Keayang Zahara's remarkable season saw her a unanimous choice as Three-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year for Marg Lee, while Derek The Jet was the premier colt/gelding for trainer Nathan Jack.
Although he had no luck in Sweden last night, The Locomotive was on the dais as Four-Year-Old Trotting Entire/Gelding of the Year for astute horseman Wayne Potter, with Rockinwithattitude the leading mare for David Miles.
Aged Pacing Mare of the Year went to the Jess Tubbs-trained Rakero Rebel, while Catch A Wave was the clear winner of the Aged Pacing Horse/Gelding of the Year for Andy Gath.
Im Ready Jet, which was trained throughout the season by Anton Golino and Andy Gath, was declared Aged Trotting Mare of the Year as the Tubbs-prepared Just Believe was crowned Aged Trotting Horse/Gelding of the Year.
