BAY OF BISCAY

HIGH quality pacer Bay Of Biscay has begun his latest campaign in perfect fashion.

Sent for a spell following his Chariots Of Fire success at Club Menangle on March 1, Bay Of Biscay returned with a narrow victory against open class rivals in Melton just moments ago.

After working to the lead from barrier five, the son of Somebeachsomewhere staved off a late charge from Triple Eight to score by a short-half head, with Tango Tara six metres away third.

Driven by New South Wales reinsman Cam Hart, Bay Of Biscay rated 1:52.4 over 1720 metres to take his record to 11 wins and eight placings from 22 starts for earnings of $834,405.

Impressed with the entire's performance, trainer Emma Stewart immediately turned her attention to Bay Of Biscay's next outing.

The four-year-old will be taken to Queensland for Saturday night's $300,000 The Rising Sun at Albion Park.

"He has come back feeling super and that run will top him off nicely," Stewart said. "He trialled a couple of weeks ago and hasn't stopped improving since.

"It's up to Queensland now for next week's big race.

"The Four-Year-Old Championship a fortnight later is also an option.

"Long term we are looking at The Eureka at Menangle on September 6, which is his main aim for the year.

"He was second in it last year and hopefully he can go one better this time."
