Stats say he is worth a flutter!
FOR those who play the stats when having a punt, Hes Themightyspin is worth a flutter this weekend.
Engaged in the final event in Melton tomorrow night, Hes Themightyspin will be driven by star reinsman James Herbertson, who has yet to be beaten when partnering the trotter for trainer Patrick Tomkinson.
Herbertson has taken the reins behind Hes Themightyspin for a pair of wins in Cranbourne and Ballarat.
Three of those victories have been during Hes Themightyspin's last five starts.
"I drove him at his last start and we didn't do as well as I would have liked," Tomkinson said. "There were two false starts and me driving, so he was hampered.
"I circled around because of the false start and so we were 300 metres off them and 11 metres away by the time the field was released.
"He also became very fired up, which didn't help.
"Herbie is unbeaten with him, so I'm hoping that can be an omen even though this is a bit of a step up in grade."
Drawn barrier four, the son of Majestic Son led from the same starting position when triumphant in Ballarat last month.
"I will leave it up to Herbie to make his call on what he wants to do from the draw," Tomkinson said. "It is a pretty even field, and all I can say is my bloke is going as well as he ever has.
"Hopefully with Herbie back in the cart he can get the job done again."
Depending on the outcome of his upcoming assignment, Hes Themightyspin will back up next weekend in a 1200-metre dash.
"If he does win he won't be eligible for his target, which is a 1200-metre race next week, but I'll take a win wherever it comes," Tomkinson said. "If that means I have to pick a different race for him next, then so be it."
