System glitch postpones milestone celebrations
A GLITCH in the system has temporarily halted Will Rixon's personal milestone celebrations.
Listed as having won 799 races several days ago, Rixon was excited to reach 800 victories after reining Rakero Blaze to glory at Club Menangle last night.
Upon inspection this morning, however, it was discovered Rixon remains stranded on 799 wins!
Rixon's tally not reflecting the 'actual' number stems from an issue behind the scenes.
Taking the news in his stride, Rixon hopes to register his 800th win when he returns to Club Menangle tomorrow.
"It's just one of those things," Rixon said. "It's nobody's fault and just means I have to wait a little longer, which is no big deal.
"I've got a handful of drives at Menangle tomorrow, and a few which are good chances, so I'll just press on and hope to reach 800 then."
A third generation participant, Rixon broke his maiden not long after his 16th birthday when he combined with Ali Mendes to score in Newcastle on January 28, 2017.
Quickly establishing himself as a highly-talented driver, Rixon has climbed his way to the top by holding a slender lead in this year's New South Wales premiership.
"With such a strong family history in the sport, there was no chance I was ever doing anything else," Rixon said. "I love the game and never want to be doing anything else.
"I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but to win the drivers' premiership, whether this season or down the track, would be great.
"Another dream would be to win the Miracle Mile like my Dad (Peter) and other members of my family have done."
