WHILE they are never far from the spotlight during any part of the season, it is that time of the year for the industry’s reinswomen to shine.

Between tomorrow and March 15 Australasia’s leading ladies will don specially-designed teal pants to raise valuable funds and crucial awareness for ovarian cancer research and education.

The incredible campaign stems from the work towards helping women affected by the condition the late Lyn McPherson began before losing her battle in 2010.

“It’s a wonderful initiative that has grown every year,” said McPherson’s husband, Duncan.

“We’ve gone from a Victorian-based fundraiser in 2010 to the first Teal Pants Team also only in Victoria in 2016 to being national and then Australasia-wide in less than a decade.

“During that time we’ve raised more than $2million on and off the track, which is just incredible and a credit to everyone involved.

“It goes further than just raising money, which is needed to research and care, it lifts the awareness of ovarian cancer as well.”

A major contributor towards the funding portion of the campaign is TAB, which will donate $200 to WomenCan each time a member of ‘Team Teal’ wins.
