Taking advantage of star stablemate's absence
PERENNIAL placegetter Centillionaire made the most of the absence of her stablemate at Globe Derby yesterday.
During five previous appearances at the venue Centillionaire recorded three seconds and two thirds - all behind Skew Whiff.
With Skew Whiff resting in a paddock, Centillionaire became the star of the show by breaking her maiden in effortless fashion.
"She's a lovely filly and deserved to get that win," trainer Jill Neilson said. "She has been so consistent and hasn't set a hoof wrong.
"Skew Whiff has just been a cut above the ones here and Centillionaire took advantage of her not being there this time."
Driven by Katie Wilson, Centillionaire worked to the lead from barrier two, with the remainder of the 1800-metre trip a formality.
Striding clear during the latter stages, the daughter of Centurion Atm scored by 22-and-a-half metres from Glamourise.
Hastalavista Lady was 22-and-a-half metres away third in 2:08.8.
"I'm very happy with her run and to see her get that win on the board," Neilson said. "She also picked up her bonus which is great.
"She will have another start or two before the end of the season and then go for a break."
Although she was taking it easy yesterday, life is about to get a lot tougher for Skew Whiff.
"I'm taking her over to Victoria later in the week," Neilson said. "She will go in a Vicbred heat in Maryborough on Monday and then stay with Lisa Miles."
