Taking time with promising pacer
PLANS remain modest with Hurricane Hussler despite his success in Cranbourne during the weekend.
Although he is positive Hurricane Hussler has a bright future, trainer Craig Demmler stated he will take his time with the son of Warrawee Needy.
As such Hurricane Hussler will be eased through the grades before any specific targets are selected.
"I haven't got much picked out for him," Demmler said. "He's not Vicbred eligible, so that rules a lot out for the rest of this month.
"I'll just keep taking my time with him and find the right races to get him through the grades.
"I quite like him and think he can go a fair way."
With Nathan Jack in the cart, Hurricane Hussler led throughout from barrier three to complete a five-and-a-half metre win from Villacci.
Mongiana was a neck away third.
"I felt he had them covered and once he got to the front I couldn't see him being run down," Demmler said.
"Nathan said he was doing it easily the whole way and had plenty left on the line."
Rating 1:56.9 over 2080 metres, the four-year-old stretched his record to six wins and five placings from 16 starts for earnings of $46,980.
