Talented trotter continues rise through the grades
FAMILIAR TRICKS

A SHORT break before another feature target.

That's the plan with talented trotter Familiar Tricks according to co-trainer Jo Rando.

Successful in last Saturday night's Carousel Final at Club Menangle, Familiar Tricks will be given a week off before Rando and his wife, Mary, aim the son of Used To Me at the Yamamoto Trotters' Stakes.

The event for three, four and five-year-old trotters is scheduled to be conducted at Club Menangle on November 22

"He's a nice type and Mary and I have a fair opinion of him," Rando said. "He is building a nice record and we think he can go a fair way.

"We'll give him a week off now, then get him ready for the three, four and five-year-old race in late November."

With Cameron Hart holding the reins during his latest outing, Familiar Tricks began quickly to find the front from barrier nine.

Never seriously challenged, the squaregaiter cruised to an eight-metre triumph from Valley Star.

Addictive Stride, a stablemate of the winner, was nine-and-a-half metres away third.

"He did a great job," Rando said. "We were also happy with Addictive Stride's run too...he's bursting to win and one shouldn't be far away!

"Once Familiar Tricks got to the front, we felt there was no way he was going to be run down and he won with a bit up his sleeve."

Rating 1:57 over 2300 metres, the five-year-old took his record to six wins and three seconds from 12 starts for the season.
