“The women have done a tremendous job since this began and don’t need our help!”

THAT call from Robbie Morris has proven to be spot on as the Teal Pants Campaign ends its first week.

Morris made the statement while discussing his role as a ‘ring in’ during this year’s Australasia-wide fundraiser.

With his wife KerryAnn unable to occupy the sulky due to her pregnancy, Morris joined the crew on her behalf, but made it clear this is a one-off and the fellas don’t need to become involved.

“I’m only doing it this year as it is a cause KerryAnn feels very strongly about and she is disappointed she won’t be out there driving for charity,” Morris said.

“It’s not a sign the men need to get involved too.

“The women have done a tremendous job since this began and don’t need our help!”

Morris has joined the sport’s ladies who wear specially-designed teal pants between February 1 and March 14 to raise awareness and valuable funds for ANZGOG – Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group.

Money is earned via each win during the campaign, with the various state governing bodies donating a set amount per victory, which is matched by the state’s major wagering company.

On average a win is worth $400 for the kitty.

In its seventh year, the Teal Pants Campaign has raised more than $2million.

As for Morris’ earlier declaration – the women have certainly proven they have this covered after registering 60 wins and raising more than $23,000 in seven days!
