Temptation will be avoided....for now!

IT MAY change in a few days, but as it stands Chris Lang will avoid the temptation of rushing Ollivici to the top level.

Stretching his perfect season to five with an consummate win at Tabcorp Park Melton last night, Ollivici is gaining a reputation as the nation's most exciting trotter.

Making no secret of his desire to contest the Inter Dominion later in the year with the four-year-old, Lang plans to ease Ollivici into open class racing during the next few months.

As such the Lang will set aside his desire to contest next week's Australasian Trotting Championship to remain focused on the long term agenda.

"I don't plan on running him in the main event next week, but he may go around in the other trot on the card," Lang said.

"It may even be a year too early for him, but I've got my eye on the Inter Dominion which I'd be silly not to given it is in Victoria.

"I will have a look at the noms for the Australasian Trotting Championship and may change my mind, but at this point he won't be going in that.

"I'm thinking more the Shepparton Cup in a few weeks as his first go at the higher level."

Driven by Lang during his latest triumph, Ollivici worked to the lead from barrier six, with the remainder of the Group Two a formality.

With Lang sitting motionless in the cart the son of Orlando Vici was untouched to score by eight-and-a-half metres from Sheza Pleasure.

Adelle was seven-and-a-half metres third in 1:58.3 over 2240 metres.
