WELL-BRED youngster Seaside Drive will attempt to complete one of harness racing's most remarkable wins this weekend.

Engaged in a Nutrien Classic Final in Melton, Seaside Drive will tackle the $200,000 feature in what is her racing debut!

Prepared by New South Wales horseman Darren Reay, the two-year-old heads into the event having had seven trials, which have netted a pair of wins and three placings.

"I would have liked for her to have had a run under her belt, but it didn't happen," Reay said. "She has been working well and trialed well last week, so why not have a crack!

"Every Final I can think of, be it Sires', Derbys, Oaks, other race series, usually have heats, so I can't think of another time a filly has been racing for $200,000 at her first start.

"She's a long shot, but if she happens to pull it off, I'd say it'd be a win for the ages."

To be driven by David Moran, Seaside Drive will begin from barrier four.

TAB Fixed Odds have the filly listed as the $151 rank outsider, with the unbeaten Conciliate a $1.85 favourite from the pole.

A member of the Rickie Alchin stable, Conciliate has won her two starts in 1:54.7 and 1:54.6.

"She is a half-sister to Group One winner Patsbeachstorm, which David drove, so I figured he knows the family," Reay said.

"She'll need plenty of luck, but crazier things have happened in racing."

In what will be a busy trip south for Reay, he will also present a colt by Father Patrick from The Pearl Of Paris during Sunday's Sale.

"He's from a half-sister to Mufasa Metro, which is also by Father Patrick, making him a three-quarter brother," Reay said.
