This family keeps setting the Pace
A FORTNIGHT after Darren Pace achieved a major career highlight, another member of the prominent clan has reached a personal milestone.
Training and driving Sam Nien, Pace notched his biggest win within the industry when he captured a $125,000 Trot Final in Melton.
Fast forward to last night's meeting at the same program, and Pace's older brother, Joe, has stepped into the spotlight.
Rarely without a talented performer in his stable, Joe registered his 200th training victory.
In what made the moment all-the-more special, the winner - Justalittlesip - was driven by Joe's son, Adrian.
"It's nice to get a milestone win, especially when your son is involved," Joe said. "It certainly adds to the ocassion having Adrian drive the winner.
"Now I'll have to start aiming for my 300th win."
Causing an upset at $26, Justalittlesip outsprinted his rivals to score from co-favourites Hes From Heaven and Sahara Breeze.
"I was surprised he was the rank outsider in the field," Pace said. "I gave him a solid chance and he raced to expectations."
