Thriving since interstate move
THRIVING since moving interstate, handy mare Alfnalma remains the one to beat at Club Menangle on Saturday night despite her "shocking" draw.
Purchased by clients of Nathan Turnbull last August, Alfnalma has won four of her five starts for the New South Wales horseman.
"She probably should be unbeaten for us," Turnbull said. "She finished second in her other run when she drew badly, went back at the start and still put in a massive run.
"She's been a really good investment for a few of my mates in town, who bought her for some fun."
To be driven by young gun reinsman Jett Turnbull, Alfnalma has drawn barrier 10 in the 1609-metre Waratah Final.
The daughter of Racing Hill slots into nine with the removal of the emergency.
"The draw is ordinally and I think it will be her biggest obstacle," Turnbull said. "It is hard to match them up when they come together from different regions, but I consider her the one to beat.
"She has good gate speed, which I would've loved to have used if she'd drawn better, but I am pretty excited to see how she handles the big track as she has heaps of speed."
