Time to test undefeated filly
SHE'S been impressive during her two starts, but now it's time to test Centrefold Star.
Unbeaten for trainer Bronte Giorgio, Centrefold Star has won by a collective margin of 26 metres, having also broken two minutes upon debut.
Pleased with the filly's progress, Giorgio has decided to "throw her in the deep end", which translates to Centrefold Star contesting Saturday night's Sapling Stake at Globe Derby.
"It's a fair jump in class for her," Giorgio said. "She has looked good in her two races so far, but they were pretty low class.
"That said, she did run reasonable times.
"She will be a bit better again this week, but will certainly need to be as it is a pretty good field of two-year-olds."
With Michael Smith to take the reins, Centrefold Star has drawn to settle in a prominent position from barrier two.
TAB Fixed Odds have the daughter of Poster Boy listed as the $12 second elect, with Victorian raider Shoreline Dream a prohibitive $1.04 favourite from the pole.
"I'm not going into it overly confident of winning, but I am confident she will run a good race," Giorgio said.
"Shoreline Dream is first-up since winning in Tasmania in May, but he seems like a big, strong, lovely animal which will be hard to beat, especially from the draw."
