Triple trotting treat
PAT Driscoll’s Yabby Dam Farms and his private trainer Anton Golino had a red-letter day at Maryborough yesterday when they combined to win three of the 10 heats of the Aldebaran Park Vicbred Super Series for trotters.
The combination won two qualifiers of the three-year-old fillies’ division with Revelstoke and Courmayeur, and a heat for three-year-old colts and geldings with Cravache Dor.
Courmayeur posted the fastest time of the day at a 1:58.9 rating.
The trio was bred by Driscoll and expertly driven by Nathan Jack.
Driscoll also bred exciting youngster The Locomotive which Jack drove to win the opening heat for two-year-old colts and geldings. The Muscle Mass colt has won eight of his 11 starts for $148,298 in stakes.
The other two-year-old colts’ and geldings’ race fell the way of the Queensland-owned Hide And Seek, which made his debut for Jess Tubbs.
The two heats for two-year-old trotting fillies were taken out by Rockinwithattitude, prepared by David Miles and driven by Jayden Barker, and Paris Jamilla, trained by Sam Barker and driven by Bailey McDonough.
Rockinwithattitude, a daughter of the deceased American import Aldebaran Eagle, notched her eighth success from 13 starts.
Blitzthemcalder, who won the Vicbred series at two and three years, was represented by the end-to-end winner of the final heat for three-year-old colts and geldings in Gaelic Lad.
The all-American bred colt Courage Stride, trained and driven by Chris Lang, showed he will be a force in the Group One $100,000 Final at Tabcorp Park Melton on New Year’s Eve with an authoritative win in the opening heat of the three-year-old colts and geldings’ section.
