Unbeaten youngster hungry for more
NO STRANGER to crossing the border, especially when feature races are on the card, Emma Stewart will once again launch a South Australian raid this weekend.
Since 2015 HRSA has conducted 42 races offering prizemoney of $50,000 or more, with Stewart and her partner, Clayton Tonkin, winning 18.
Of the 42, however, Tonkin and Stewart have only contested 21, giving them an astonishing strike rate of 85.7 per cent in SA's richest races.
Stewart and Tonkin's haul includes all three of The Allwood Finals in 2019, '20 and '21 - the only $100,000 events in the state since the 2018 SA Cup, which they also won with Shadow Sax!
The pair have also won the likes of SA's Derby and Oaks, a host of Southern Cross Finals along with other supporting features.
As for the next round of majors destined to head to Victoria, they will be conducted at Globe Derby Saturday night.
Stewart has the early favourites in The Veterinary Surgeons Cup, Sapling Stake and SAHRC Derby.
Sir Jimmy will tackle the Cup from the outside of the front row, while Shoreline Dream has drawn perfectly in the pole in the Sapling Stake.
Unbeaten from three starts, Hungry Hippo will also begin from barrier one in the Derby.
"We always enjoy having a runner at Globe Derby," Stewart said. "The racing is strong and there are often very suitable races for some of our horses.
"We particularly aim to send a horse over if it has owners over there who can be at the track to watch them go around.
"Shoreline Dream and Hungry Hippo a predominantly-owned in South Australia, so it is only natural to send them over and try to pick up a nice race."
