We can't use those trainer's quotes!
GIVEN this is a family-orientated publication we can't use Aaron Dunn's exact quote after he heard about the South Australia Derby draw.
Let's just say after being told his entrant - Forty Love - received gate 11 Dunn proved he was fluent in French with a dialect of sailor.
"Oh phooey! I couldn't imagine a worse draw...that is going to make it very difficult for us" is the translation!
Fast forward to tonight's Globe Derby meeting and Dunn couldn't care less about the draw as Forty Love overcame the early obstacle to win the Blue Riband.
"Yeah, I wasn't happy," Dunn said. "But it all worked out in the end, so I guess I got worked up for nothing.
"It just shows, sometimes a bad draw can turn out to be good and a good draw can go bad."
With Dunn in the cart, Forty Love was given time to settle into his stride before being angled three-wide and forced four-wide on his way to the 'death seat' as Coniston led.
Striding clear of the pack leaving the back straight, Forty Love staved off a late challenge from My Ultimate Jimmy to score by a half-head.
Major Crunch completed a Victorian trifecta by finishing 20 metres away third.
"He did it tough tonight and I couldn't be prouder of him," Dunn said. "I've gone three-wide, he ended up four-wide into the breeze and he never stopped working.
"Even up the straight, he was getting tired, which he was entitled to be, but he wasn't giving up."
Bred and owned by the Dunn family, the son of Downbytheseaside rated 1:57.5 over 2230 metres to take his record to nine wins and eight placings from 25 starts for earnings of $108,472.
