WELL-BRED youngster Cyclone Jenni completed a perfect debut last night.

Undertaking her first trip to the races, Cyclone Jenni captured the Youthful Stake in Melton for co-trainers Debbie and Gary Quinlan.

Although naturally pleased with Cyclone Jenni's performance, the Quinlans have adopted a "see how she goes" philosophy with the two-year-old moving forward.

"We've got a pretty reasonable opinion of her," Debbie said. "But how far she goes, who knows?

"Last night was only a little stepping stone, but a stepping stone in the right direction.

"We will try to keep her to fillies' races, but there are not many programmed, and then it's whether they stand up.

"Other than that we'll tread water between now and the Vicbred."

Driven by Chris Alford, Cyclone Jenni enjoyed the ideal one-one trip before cruising to an eight-and-a-half metre win from Pre Eminant.

Ozzie Pearl was seven-and-a-half metres away third in 1:56.3 over 1720 metres.

Bred and owned by Fusinato Bloodstock, Cyclone Jenni is Captaintreacherous from Cyclone Betty, making her a half-sister to five winners, including Our Waikiki Beach.
