We'll have to wait and see
WE'LL have to wait and see.
That was the call from Chris Svanosio when discussing the prospect of Arcee Phoenix leading in Saturday night's Inter Dominion Final at Albion Park.
Pre-series favourite, Arcee Phoenix's odds tightened after he drew the pole in the $500,000 major, with TAB Fixed Odds listing the trotter at $2.30.
Discussions following the draw, however, have focused on whether Arcee Phoenix can muster the required speed to lead.
"I hope he has enough speed to hold," Svanosio said. " I haven't asked him to come out too often, but with the chance of leading, I will be pushing him forward at the start.
"There will be a couple having a crack, like Parisian Artiste and Bet N Win for example, but we'll have to wait and see.
"He led from four in New Zealand and has shown that if finds the front he will take a power of beating, which is why it is where like to be.
"All I can say is I have him feeling as well as he could be and we'll be ready to do our best."
Citing Bet N Win as the main danger, Svanosio is also wary of Parisian Artiste.
Parisian Artiste has drawn barrier four, with Bet N Win to come from five.
Bet N Win won both his heats, while Parisian Artiste was successful during the second round of qualifiers.
"Bet N Win has been the benchmark, while Parisian Artiste was terrific the other night," Svanosio said. "Also Gus is airborne, but has a tough draw, and Oscar Bonavena is great, and if he can do everything right, he will be in the finish.
"There are quite a few good ones in it as you'd expect from an Inter Dominion Final."
