World champion sets another record
BULLDOG HANOVER

WORLD champion Bulldog Hanover equalled the fastest mile in Canada when capturing last night's $650,000 Canadian Pacing Derby at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Caught wide into the first turn before finding the lead, Bulldog Hanover reached the first three sectionals in 26.3, 54.3 and 1:21.1.

Jimmy Freight issued a first over challenge nearing the third quarter, but Bulldog Hanover soon strode clear of the pack turning for home.

Responding brilliantly to Dexter Dunn's driving, Bulldog Hanover hit the line in 1:46.4 as Tattoo Artist and Poseidon Seelster filled the placings.

Bulldog Hanover matched Dr J Hanover's 2017 Canadian record set, while also lowering the mark for an aged stallion held by Always B Miki  and Warrawee Vital.

John Darling trains the four-year-old for Jack Darling Stables and Brad Grant, with the entire's record to 24 wins from 32 starts for $1,958,696 in earnings.

This season Bulldog Hanover has earned more than $1million as a result of 10 wins from 11 starts.

“It’s great to have the family here and the fans here,” Darling said. “This horse has really got a fan base out there and so many people are cheering for him, it’s just an honour to be involved with him and be part of it.”
