Younger sibling chasing spotlight

WHILE her older sibling is chasing glory in Australasia's premier sprint this weekend, Miss Ravishing will attempt to grab her own share of the spotlight.

Regarded as one of the nation's most talented pacers Captain Ravishing will face his toughest test when he contests the Miracle Mile at Club Menangle on Saturday night.

Captain Ravishing earned his berth in the $1million Garrard's-sponsored sprint with his eye-catching third in last week's qualifier.

In what was his debut for genius trainer Jason Grimson, the son of Captaintreacherous was first-up from a three-month break and is destined to improve for the outing.

Earlier on the card Miss Ravishing - Captain Ravishing's younger half-sister - will also compete against her strongest assembly of opponents in the Raith Memorial.

Like Captain Ravishing, Miss Ravishing recently returned from a lengthy spell to finish third for trainer Dylan Xerri.

"She went very well first-up from a break," Xerri said. "It was her first run for four months and she hit the line well.

"Her work since has been terrific and she will be a lot sharper this weekend, which she will certainly need to be against this field.

"I've got a high opinion of her and believe she can develop into a high class filly."

To be driven by Bailey McDonough, Miss Ravishing has drawn to gain a perfect trip from the pole.

"I'm very happy with the draw," Xerri said. "Hopefully from there she can get a good run on the pegs and be finishing late.

"It's an extremely strong field, Group One quality, so I think they will run some time.

"Grant's (Dixon) filly Cool And Classy seems like she is something special and she's the one to beat, though the depth is spread around the whole field.

"As long as she runs to expectations I will be happy."
